Hi all, I just joined LBT today and I thought I would post my introduction.

A little about me...

I was an athlete my whole life...16 years ago, I was captain of the men's swim team. Unfortunately, once I graduated I stopped exercising, discovered beer, and blew up like a balloon. I have gained 153 lbs in the last 16 years and I am now obese and completely lethargic. I have decided to take back my life and stop the cycle of obesity in my family. I am doing this for my family as much as I am myself. It's time!! I am getting banded on May 12th. 2011, one day before my birthday! I can do this! I was an athlete once and I'm determined to be one again!!

I am currently on the pre-surgery diet and I'm not enjoying it too much to be honest. I'm giving up food, soda, and smoking at the same time!! Not fun at all but I'm trying to maintain a positive attitude. I know it will be worth it in the end.

I look forward to getting to know the LBT community and helping any way I can with your weight loss journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
