First fill today

Recommended Posts

Hello all!! I received my first fill today, so I'm on liquids tonight and then back to mushies tomorrow then solids by the end of the week. Today marked my three weeks out since the surgery and I had lost 13lbs. I am pretty pleased. I was suprised they filled me, but even more suprised that he had put in a 10cc band. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

Hey - congrats on that first fill - let us know if you can tell a big difference! 13 lbs is wonderful - you should be very proud of yourself! I don't know too much about the difference in bands - I understand the 10cc is a little bigger and the port is bigger, too. My doc was going to try and do the 4cc on me if he could (and he did) because I'm so short and the larger port would probably have caused me to have a 2nd surgery later to downsize. How accurate or inaccurate this is, I don't know. I asked this same question and somebody told me it was like a belt and came in different sizes to fit. Wish I could be of more help. Take Care.

The size of your band is strictly dependent on the size of your stomach. I am only 5'1" myself and I have a VG band. I currently have 5.4 in my band and am up for another fill at the end of this month. Best of luck with your fill! Way to go on the 13 pounds!!

I understand that I have a 9.75 centimeter Inamed band with a 4 cc capacity. That is the standard Inamed band. I have 1.3ccs in it. The Vanguard band is different. Maybe you have that? It all depends on your weight, body, and stomach size what band they use. You need to find these facts!

Got my first fill last Friday. I was hoping for some miracle saline to melt away a hundred pounds or so, but no such luck! Let me know if they put it in yours!!

I don't feel any difference, but I do get stuck now if I don't chew chew chew chew chew chew! I wish it had a valve to close after you have eaten your allotment for the day!!!!!

Keep up the good work, sara - we're here cheering you on!!

I found out today that I have the 4ml band and it now has 1 ml in it. It was not a painfull process at all, easy peasy. I dont really feel any different, other than I did start to eat a bit fast at lunch time and felt it back up. But I stopped eating for a minute or two and it went down.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
