I have surgery scheduled for next tuesday ( lets see if i can make it i am in ALOT of pain) I had all the Fluid taken out of my band today.... But i am still having trouble keeping fluids down... When i drink the pain gets so intense it makes me sick and throwing it up seems to be the only relief.. I have read that throwing up is part of the problem with gallstones.... Lets hope it gets better because right now the pain meds arent even helping :( :( :( :( :(

Please make sure you stay hydrated. I know you can't keep liquids down but try ices and ice chips. If it gets too bad go back to the ER and insist on earlier surgery. My prayers are with you.

Just an update!! Today I feel back to normal! I guess taking all the Fluid out of my band and letting it rest last night was best! I can hold down liquids today! Woohoo (I think its been since saturday since i have actually had a drink of any kind) i have enough pain meds to last me to Tuesday... Hopefully it will not flair up again till then!!! And my Dr said the surgery souldnt affect my lap band.. THANK GOODNESS... ( On a bright note even tho ive been miserable my weight has dropped to 185... i dont think Ive weighed that much since freshman year of highschool!!)

Best of luck to you. Have faith that all will be well. This will be a distant memory soon and you will do fine. Love the name BTW.

Thanks! :) I will be glad when this is a distant memory!!! I have since learned my grandmother and ALL her sisters had their gallbladders removed between the ages of 23-26 I'm 24 so I guess I fit right in with my family! They all told me once it was removed they have never had any more troubles! I cant wait for this thing to be GONE!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
