43coco 0 Posted May 7, 2011 I got my first lapband in Nov. 2004. I started at 236 lbs. Lost TOO much weight and was 105 in Jan. 2011. Got food poisoning in Feb. Violently threw up for 3 days. Band slipped and I couldn't eat or drink for 4 days. Nothing would stay down. Not even Water. I dropped to 82 lbs. b/c of having nothing to eat or drink for almost a week. Had to have emergency surgery in Feb to have band removed. I was very upset. I am all better now and am getting my 2nd (replacement) band in 2 weeks. Please be careful when and if you get sick and have to throw up. If you EVER can't keep anything down go see the doctor to get some Fluid removed. I should have done that but didn't think about it til it was too late. However, I am a 'bander' for life and can't wait for the replacement.
Mimilou2004 13 Posted May 7, 2011 Good luck and happy recovery. I am so glad you are a candidate for rebanding. I went without mine for 5 months and I knew I needed its help very much. Best wishes. Mimi
Elie936 1 Posted May 7, 2011 Thanxs for the info! Yes i know that throwing up is very bad... It must be scary when it happens. I have a last question, just so i know... So you said that you had felt something different for the past month before you got sick, what was different? You could eat more? Or you had reflux? Just want to know so i can listen to my body and be prepared if it ever happens to me. Thank u very much
giogirl 5 Posted May 8, 2011 I know what you mean! I only had my band for 7 weeks and mine slipped - wow that was painful! They were able to put it back into its proper place.
