Breast Uplift (Mastopexy)

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks

I have a question I would like to ask..I am 54 and feel I need a Breast Uplift should I wait to have the Operation post further weight loss its very SLOW or should I get it done now anyway.. its mainlly due to position of the nips..

I am only a Max 42 D min 36 C 3 pregnancies.

I have an appointment in June with a Consultant..Breast Surgeon although I dont have to have it done straight away I can wait 1YR.

What do you think..

First i think wait and use it as motivation as a reward when you get to normal BMI. (thats my plan and I am taking a long time to lose the last ten!)

Second a plastic surgeon is a little like a car salesman...it is to his advantage to get your money as soon as possible but I think you will get a better result at goal weight. A few PS docs actually require their patients to be at goal for six months. Good luck..

I agree that closer to stable goal wt would be best.....Plastics do not want ppl to lose much after surgery or they will sag again and gaining will stretch the scars. I did manage to gain because of band problems and this happened to me. That being said, get a couple of consults then take your time to make your decision. By the way..now that my scars are faded, I love my new itty bitty boobies. I didn't get implants and have no regrets, although of course many ppl love theirs.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Definitely after, looking at your ticker, you still have a lot of weight to lose. I found I got down to a normal BMI of 25 and I was still dissatisfied but droppng to 20 has completely changed my breasts. They're not very firm, true, and they shrunk the most int hat last 20lb (I never wanted large breasts though, very very happy with a small C cup) but my nipples now, for the first time in my life, point upwards. I personally wouldnt have any surgery until you've absolutely and utterly finished losing - and in fact I think that a lot of people have surgery for problems that another 20lb would fix, well, that's what I found anyway. The last 20lb to take me down to a low BMI made more difference to my body than the first 100!

Thanks for your comments I will most definitely hold fire until this weight is shifted..however this is slow due to several false starts with my Band.. So it may be a while before I get it done then.. I am a 42 D NOW & was a 36C before the weight krept on.

useful to know though so there is hope!

Please wait...

I had a number of consults when I started considering TT and breast augmentation and during that time (August 2010), I was told that I didn't need a lift. Well, I had the TT w/ MR (December 2010) as the insurance picked up the cost and I decided to wait for the breast once I saved enough funds. I just spoke with my PS about my breast again (9 months later) and now I need a lift due to additional fat loss. I'm glad I didn't do the augmentation with the TT now - the thought of droopy mellons versus my current tube sock look would have been very bad.

I am close to my goal and plan to have the girls done this fall after I enjoy the wonders of summer - pool, pool, pool....

Hi there thanks for the input.. Cherish!

I have probably need a grade one not sure how they assess these things?? but at the age of 54 weight loss & Gain, 3 babies later I need this Mastopexy for the confidence aspect and uplift not overly huge but need the nips lifted back where they belong!. The weight is balanced and maintaining but I have at least 40ibs to lose.. which I am finding a struggle...

Yes I will wait too which makes sense...

I just had a breast lift and implants (2 weeks ago, June 15). It will be 5 years ago that I was banded and I am very glad I waited for the surgery. I am hoping to have my lower body lift in the fall. I feel young again, wow what a difference from the saggy flat boobies I used to have to the ones I have now. My surgeon is a true artist and that is what I was looking for. He specializes in PS after extreme weight-loss and PS for cancer patients. I didn't feel as though I was being pushed at all, I told him I was going to look around when I met him, that didn't faze him. He knew I'd be back I guess.

I was most scared about the scaring afterwards and after I saw his before and afters I realized this man knew what he was doing. My suggestion is to look for a PS that specializes in band patients/extreme WL patients. Everyone on my surgery team was familiar with the band. I aspirated during the surgery due to my band but they took perfect care of me and I am fine. My digestion is slower now I guess and even though I stopped eating well before midnight I still had some bits in there. For the next surgery I will do liquids 48 hours before just to be safe.

I suggest you wait as the others are telling you, you will likely need more that just a breast lift once at goal and every one is right the last 10 take the longest.

Thanks for your advice I am saving at the moment for the Op and am seeing the Consultant on 1st August .. which is jst the first session .. My only worry is the weight is taking an age to go.. I am on food replacement packs which is more cost...lo carb meals were NOT shfting anything,,

I have about 4 stone to go. So it could be a while unless someone can improve the band functionality I am disappointed with it..The only form of exercise I can do is to swim..

I suffer with a back injury..

Iam glad you are happy with the outcome, Wound care is important, I can look after my own Wounds but its the initial surgery an accuracy of the skin and Nipples.. Have you kept the sensation in the nips or are yu still a little numb from surgery.. They ususally use steristrips and glue for this area..

Best of Luck

I am very happy with the out come. Scaring was my biggest worry and looking at the healing I don't think I will have any scaring (knock on wood). My understanding is they there are a few rounds of stiches in there. Deep ones and near surface. I didn't have the standard anchor lift, I had a Benelli with implants done which minimized my incision and I barely have any scars compared to what I would have had. They definitely used steristrips, I don't think he used glue.

A good way to find a PS specialized in band patients is to ask your band clinic/surgeon, they know the doctors that is how I found my PS.

I would say my nipples are more sensitive and I didn't think that was possible, but completely liveable. The only time they were numb was when I had the ice pack on my breasts to min the swelling.

That is great only 4 stone to go, you will get there. Swimming is great excercise, I was going to aquafit after I was banded, it did wonders for me. That is all the excercise I did, now I am far more active in my smaller body. With time you will increase your activity, I think you are on the right track!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
