I have a (probably stupid) question. I have been reading that many of you drink about 100 oz of Water a day - is that key? I admit I am not good at drinking water all the time - I prob don't take in 100 oz of any liquid during the day. If I start drinking my water will it help me start to lose again? I should prob add I take in maybe 800 calories on a bad day, around 600 on a good and haven't lost more than 3 pounds in the last 2 months

Water and Protein are key for me. I try for about 80 ounces of Water and 80 grams of Protein per day. Also, I would try to eat more calories for one day (good calories/protein/veggies etc. - maybe 1200-1500) because you may need to "shock" your system - if you are really eating 600 calories a day, then your body is probably holding on to fat (why your not losing)...

Just a thought... Keep up your diet and exercise and try to add the water/protein see what happens.

I have been trying to get my calories up, but it's hard! I can't eat all that much, but I am trying to get them up. Can't eat any fruits, but I have recently added lettuce to my diet again. My band is pretty tight, but I need to keep losing. thank you for your advice

Loosing it all is right - Water and Protein. If no other liquids, choose protein. Go to the powdered stuff or choose foods such at greek yogurt or morningstar farms that is high in protein. I had a friend that had a full bypass a few years ago that told me high protein was the key when loosing, and she has not been wrong yet :)

Just wait....next time you step on the scale you will be 3 lbs lighter. Hang in there mauraclegg! I know you can do it.

Yes, Water is key. Your body needs water to burn fat. The more the better. You can add flavorings like crystal light if that helps. I agree you should up your calories a bit. Also, be careful of carbs. I have found a very low carb diet works wonders for weightloss. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. My sister is also having great success with a low carb diet. I also watch the fat content of my food. Lots of lean protien and veggies. I do snack on nuts- they are probably the highest in fat of the food I eat. I also like to snack on low fat cheese sticks. My nutritionist told me 2 servings of Calcium a day.

Sounds to me like you're too tight. You're probably in the dreaded red zone. You need to get some liquid removed. Green is the key. Eating 600-800 calories a day will help you lose weight for a week or so but after that your body is going to start holding on to every one of them because it thinks its being starved!

that is what I am starting to think too (that I may be too tight). I was just at the doctor last week and he knows I am eating very little. He says my body may be trying to tell me to stop losing. He did give me diet pills to give me a boost. I am down about 80 lbs and in a size 10/12, but I am not happy with the number on the scale (abt 180) or the view in my mirror. I am trying to find new foods, but I am unfortunately very picky.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
