3rd fill - Big Difference

Recommended Posts

Well I had my 3rd fill. I think I have about 3 or 3.5 cc in my band now. This fill had made a HUGE difference so far. I have very little appetite. And just like the doctor said--I can eat only about 6-8 bites in a sitting and am totally satisfied. That's about 1/2 cup of food and is what I expected ultimately from the band. We shall see how things progress this month, but I'm optimistic that this fill might have me at the "sweet spot" :)

I think I may be at mine too. I have 4 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have also slowed my eating so I am feeling that signal for the first time that I can ever remember that I am full. It feels so good. I never used to have that feeling until I was stuffed and miserable. I did read on one of the other topics that the fat pouch around the band may shrink as you lose weight so it may alter the sweet spot. I think it usually said that it takes about 6 months of losing weight and getting fills before you can tell a difference with a tiny fill. I am remembering that as I go along just in case today feels like the sweet spot and as I continue to lose, it may change. There is so much good information on here. I weighed this morning and I am down 37lbs since my surger 2/23/11. I have been working out an hour almost every day and have been doing some small hand weights because I have no upper body strength and then I do cardio. I am so loving the changes I am seeing. I also started doing a bunch of research on Vitamins and minerals and have started taking some and I am feeling so inspired. Keep up your good work.

Wow, great job! I know what you mean though, in 4 weeks things could be different so I may need another fill then, who knows. But for now I am enjoying this feeling of no hunger!

It is really hard for me still to get into any kind of major exercise yet. That is the hardest part for me. I really need an exercise buddy to keep me in check! :)

I've always been able to eat 1 1/2 - 2 cups of food. I got a fill last week, I think .6 cc's or something like that, anyway.... I can't get a cup down. I have great restriction but am struggling with thinking I am too tight. Eating starts out very uncomfortable, seems like no matter how small the bites are I get stuck, it goes thru if I wait a few minutes then everything else goes down fine, but those first bites get me EVERY time? Also, I am having just a smidge of heart burn. Not sure what I'm going to do. See how the weekend goes them maybe call and see if they think I should have some taken out. She really stresses the consiquences of being too tight.

To be honest, I didn't think I would ever have this kind of restriction. It's been 10 months and I've lost 110 pounds.... hoping this will kick me back in gear. We'll see.

Continued success to you all.

I have 8cc's in an 11 cc band (and I have only had 2 fills, 5cc's in my first fill and 3 in my second - my doctor is agressive at wanting to help find restriction). I just had my second fill yesterday -- I cant tell yet if I have any restriction, but I had zero restriction with 5cc's -- I guess it just goes to show that everyone is different. I hope we have all found restriction and can be successful on our journey...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
