1. You're probably drinking too fast.

2. As you can tolerate it.

3. A couple weeks maybe.

4. There is still swelling from your surgery. It will pass.

5. There's really no chance of your body rejecting the band. It's not like an organ transplant.

Good luck!

1. Don't know what that is, mine eventually went away.

2. I think you can drink Water now instead of sip. Just don't guzzle. It goes right through the band so it shouldn't be a problem.

3. When ever it is comfortable. I couldn't for a couple of weeks.

4. That will go away, you are probably still swollen.

5. I've heard that your body can reject the band. I think it is extremely rare, don't waste your time worrying about it.

Good Luck to you!

I won't be able to sleep on my side?? I didn't know that! I really have to sleep on my back for weeks?:o

You CAN sleep on your side, it just might hurt. My port is on the right and it was too sore to sleep on for the first couple of weeks. Not a biggie.

I slept on my side on the day of surgery it all depends on you. Took like a few days to a week til I could sleep on my stomach though. No way I can sleep on my back, I can only sleep that way for like 20 min then I wake up

If you still got stitches in you, for sure it's going to hurt. Try like at the end of every week, to lay on your side until your not so sensitive. Eventually you will.

Well your still healing so that can be anything. Watch how you drink your Water. easy!

Try to swallow a little at a time. If you can, you will know it.

From your port to your band is the tubing. That might be what you are feeling. I know I feel mine sometimes.

If your comfortable with it, and it's not giving you any problems. You should be good to go.

I slept on my side from day 1- but couldn't sleep on my tummy for a few weeks. I didn't have any stitches, they closed me up with glue.

Hiccups are my nemesis. I am eight months out and I STILL get hiccups. I seem to get the more in the days following a fill. Hiccups are also my trigger that the pouch is full and I need to slow down or stop.

The hiccups are the result of the band, swelling or a full pouch pushing against the phrenic nerve causing the diaphragm to spasm (hiccup).

When my pouch has had enough, it will give me 1 hiccup. That means stop I'm full. 2 which is rare really means I had enough.

That's after 4 1/2 yrs...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
