I just posted something under sick of doctor's. I have been so exhausted that I get up in the morning and go jog and then need a 3 hour nap. Then I get up and clean the kitchen or do some laundry and need a nap. It has really been messing with my life. After doing some research for the past week, I have all of the symptoms of being iodine deficient. I checked the salt I have been using for the past 8 years and on the Morton salt can it says this product does not contain iodine. I did a patch test and it showed that I was severely low. I got some iodine drops and have been taking just 3 small drops in a bottle of Water for the past 3 days and today is the first day in I don't know how long that I haven't needed a nap. This may not be your problem but check to see that your salt has iodine in it.

My other symptoms were low body temp, low blood pressure, mood swings, dry brittle hair and nails, fatigue, and at one time before they put me on thyroid meds, I was not sweating when I worked out and had bad carb and salt cravings. I also had bad brain fog. So, please check your salt containers to make sure you are getting the kind with iodine. It can take years to show up but it has been miserable. I'm going to monitor mine to see how I continue to feel.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
