I had the surgery 2 years ago in May. This is the first time I have used a forum. I am having some problems, so I wanted to see if there was anyone else out there like me.

Wow! You all are quick. Actually I have to have my band removed this Friday. I had it put it in Mexico, and worked great for about 6 months. I lost 50 pounds. I went in for a fill, and I think I got it too full. I got to where it felt like it wasn't even there. I knew something was wrong, but I got pregnant and didn't worry about it. I decided in December I better have it checked out. When I did the doctor said I had an erosion. I was very upset and didn't know what to do. I finally decided to get it over with. I am not sure if I want to try to have it put back in or not. I didn't know if anyone else went through this and had theirs put back.

Dayne, If you will check out the "Lapband Complications" thread I'm sure you will find plenty of people who feel your pain and can relate to your experience. They might even be able to offer some very valuable advice.

I do not know first hand about the problem you are having, but there are plenty of good people on here who have recently been through the exact thing you are experiencing. They'll find your post. In the meantime, I wish you luck and good health. Cindy

This is getting to be a trend with people who were banded in Mexico. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I often am, but could this have anything to do with bacteria introduced at the time of banding. Just because a facility looks clean doesn't mean it has passed American specifications.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
