Weight Loss / Crystal Light

Recommended Posts

Does anybody here think that Crystal Light (or other atrifically sweetened drinks) have a negative affect on weight loss? Since my surgery I have pretty much strictly drank Water and nothing else (oh decaff coffee too) any way, about 6 weeks ago I decided to up my Fluid intake to about 100 oz a day and I started drinking 48 oz of crystal light every day. My weight loss has been very, very slow lately, actually kind of non existant. I know that can be due to many things. I googled "Crystal light affects weight loss" and found lots of info (personal opinions) that people think it does slow down weight loss.

What are your thoughts / experiences?

That seems to be a common reason for stalls in a lot of the low carbers. Possibly because there are carbs and they do add up depending on how much you drink. Also, for diabetics, these products contain maltodextrin which causes blood sugar spikes, which cause insulin production which causes calories to be stored as fat instead of burned (simple explanation).

I'd go back to Water and see what happens. It may give you your answer.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
