Hi there! I'm somewhat new at this....but, my Nutritionist advised me not to eat anything with white flour as it will become doughy and get stuck. So, I figured this to be a standard bandster thing. But, I'm noticing lots of recipes that call for white flour or use items that are made with white flour (i.e., Bisquick, Flour Tortilla). So, you all don't have issues with white flour?

I have issues with most things made with white flour. I try to stay clear of the stuff. Some people can tolerate a little, but for me it's just not worth the discomfort it causes.

Most things made with white flour are bread, bisquits, cake, doughnuts, and no most have trouble with any kind of dough. I can not and have not eaten bread because it hurts like hell when it gets stuck and does not go down quickly. But just like everyone else you will have to make that mistake on your own.

I dont have much trouble with it - bread, Pasta, etc are fine for me although I dont eat the white varieties - wholegrain versions arent really easier. I have more trouble with cakes and muffins which I try not to eat at all obviously. The main problem I find with anything doughy is that I absolutely cant drink whilst or within quite a while of eating it - it swells up with the liquid and then you've got a problem. Things like a piece of crusty bread with Soup are a no go but the bread or the soup on their own are fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
