First fill today. Got 6.5 cc. They said my stomach must have been smaller than the Dr originally thought. I hope I feel some restriction now!!!!! I have been able to eat ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I have wanted since about 2 weeks post op. Oh, I have lost 20 lbs since 3-23-11. So I am happy!!! :) THANKS FOR LISTENING!!

Congrats on the weight loss, nice job !

You do know to stay on fluids for 3 days right.. Because if you dont, it could cause swelling. Then 1 day of mushies, and then you can try what you like.

But start easy. Don''t dive into a steak. You have to first see how it feels when you eat. Then you will know if you want to try a steak.

Just remember chew, chew, chew.

Shirley.

Thanks!!! I don't know how big my band is. I was told Clear Liquids today and full liquids for 6 days then move up slowly. And boy am I glad they confirmed I wasn't feeling any restriction since surgery. I thought I was gonna be one of those that this spent work for!

Wow. Now it's hours after my fill. I feel like TOTAL RESTRICTION! I'm sipping some tea and even that ends up causing a bit of pain/pressure, like I need to let out a monstrous burp!!! My stomach sounds like it's growling super loud...is all this normal???

I'm right behind you...surgery was 4.18 and my first adjustment will be in two weeks. I too don't feel much restriction right now...anxious to get that first fill and more restriction and then hopefully some better weight loss. I'm down 19 lbs so far.

Yeagh it's normal,, you usually always have some swelling.

You should have your Protein shake instead of hot stuff.

If you mix your Protein into the shake, and it suggests 8 oz. of Water, use 10oz...

It will make the shake more watery so it goes down easier. Just a tip.

You should feel better in 5 days to a week at the most. Just don't eat food, like i said before it can really cause you to swell up.

WELCOME TO BANDLAND.

I get my first fill on 5/24. I can't wait! I also don't feel any restriction and feel like I could eat a cow. I haven't but, I have been cheating a bit with candy. I know! I know! Bad Bad Bad! But, I did start walking today. I am only down 13 pounds total though and that includes the 1 week pre-op diet. I have a shot thyroid so I am hoping it is just that that is causing the slow loss. I hope I feel as restricted as you do at the end of the month.

Wow, that is a huge fill. I have a 14cc band and had 2cc after surgery and they gave me 1.5 cc for my first fill for a total of 3.5cc. I was ravenous before the fill. I had to eat every 3 hours....it was horrible. After is better, but still not optimal. I'm trying to get another in a couple of weeks. I did have a restriction for a day or two, but nothing lasted.

BTW, Great weight loss!

Mel

I had my first fill Thursday. I guess i already had 4.5 cc in the band. He added 2 cc, and I really didn't feel much restriction the first evening. He said liquids for 24 hours, and I had Soup with chunky potatoes in it. Next day when I finally was hungry and ate salmon with mayo, I was really in trouble and vomited a little. Water is fine. I guess that means I over did it and now have swelling. I also have heart burn, not severe, but uncomfortable. Kelley

Go back to liquids for a couple days, then 1 day mushies, then try to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
