I am probably looking at a surgery date around mid-june, but I was wondering if anyone has lost any of their hair and if so how much? Has it begin to grow back yet? If so when did u have your surgery?

I did lose some, but not noticable to others. But keep in mind it happened when I wasn't taking in enough Protein. If you keep your protein up you shouldn't lose much

I lost some hair after about 7 months p;ost op. I went to the dermatologist and he assured me I wouldn't go bald- much to my relief. He said it was my body going into shock after rapid weight loss. After about another 3 months the loss stopped. I was lucky to start out with a pretty thick head of hair.

I am almost 5 months post op and have had no problems with Hair loss. I always eat 60gm of Protein or more per day and have not lost weight super fast like some, 30# since surgery.

Best thing you can do is drink those Protein Shakes. Some day's they don't taste so good, but it is a quick way to get 23 grams in a hurry. Also try the Greek style yogurt like Chobani where you can get 14 grams of Protein in a serving.

Thanks for the info, I have seen that yogurt but I haven't tried it but I will be going to the store later for some. Good luck.

Thanks for replying, it makes me feel better to hear from the ones who have already went down this road, my protein will be first on my list every day. Thanks again.:)

I started losing my hair about 9 months post op and it was due to the stress on my body from the surgery even though I never really felt the stress. Initially I related my Hair loss to stopping my birth control pills and I had my thyroid, hormones, and everything in between checked before I ended up at my dermatologist where he decided it was most likely the stress and shock of going through surgery. The bad thing about it is that I had very fine hair to begin with so my hair loss was starting to get noticable. I would have clumps of hair fall out in the shower everyday. My dermatologist has me on aldactone right now which helps prevent hair loss, I take Biotin Vitamins, and I am also on rogaine. I still have more hair fall out everyday than the average person but I do believe it has slowed down and I do notice some regrowth, so I think things are starting to turn around.

One of my biggest fears was hairloss. I have baby fine stick straight hair and could not afford to lose any. I watched my Protein like a hawk and started taking boitin even before surgery. I still lost about 40% of my hair between months 3-8. I tried everything, and I do mean everything, to make it stop or slow down. I tried the vits., shampoos, rogain, ...

I think it was all a waste of money. The good news is my hair did grow back in.

I had the surgery 4 mos ago. I am just starting to notice my hair thinning a bit.

Though, I'm not sure why really. I've only lost just under 30 pounds which by all means is not too rapid and I get plenty of Protein, probably a lot more than before the surgery, even. So as to why we lose hair, I have no idea. This is a mystery to me.

I started losing my hair around 5 months out. I didn't really worry about it because I had done the same exact thing when I had both of my girls. My OB/Gyn assured me it was just hormonal changes and it would definitely slow down and eventually all grow back. I am now 1 year out and all of my hair has grown back in. It is probably thicker now than before the surgery. I really wouldn't waste my money on all the advertised chemicals and pills. It will be okay.

It's not uncommon to start losing hair 6-8 months post op. It's caused my a Protein deficiency. I started drinking Protein Shakes and my doctor told me to start taking a good Multi-Vitamin. That seemed to solve the problem within a few weeks. For those who are newly banded, start now before you have the problem.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
