Having surgery two days sooner than set date!

Recommended Posts

My doctor's office scheduler called and asked me if I would be okay with pushing my surgery date from Wednesday, May 4th to Monday the 2nd instead and

I said YESSSSSSSS. I am so ready for this and this is awesome news for me! The reason is my surgeon hurt her neck so she's on medical leave.

I will have another surgeon, but he works in the same office of surgeons and I have heard good things about him.

Just wanted to share with you guys my excitment. This will be the FIRST Monday I have ever looked forward to :)

Congratulations!!! Good Luck and all will be great. My surgery is scheduled for May 11 and I'm counting down like my kids count to Christmas. Come back and share as much as you like. I'm always looking for more info and hints. Take care.

Thanks, Marcia! Well it is almost here. A few more hours and I will be at the hospital waiting to get banded. Congratulations on your set date! I remember the day the doctor's office called me and said I was approved, I was the happiest person alive. Then when I got my surgery date, I was able to relax and know that the hard work and jumping through hoops with insurance company was worth it.

And now, it's here! I know what you mean..I have been counting down days and hours lol. I will come back and definitely share with you my experience. Please let me know if you have any questions so far.

I am also a May 2nd "bander!" I would love to hear how your first week is going. Mine has been very eye opening. Anxious to get back to work next week and see what happens!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
