Is anyone else getting sick of Water and crystal light?? Does anyone know of other beverages that taste great? Don't get me wrong Water is great after a crucial workout... but I am so tired of consuming it ALL day long! lol

Lately I've been making ginger lemonade or limeade. I boil diced ginger in 4 cups of water, strain it into a pitcher and sqeeze 4-5 lemons or limes sometime some of each then fill the pitcher with ice. I drink this with 2-3 packets of equal or splenda and find it very refreshing and a great way to get away from the crystal light and water madness. By the way, the pitcher usually last me a few days.

Hope this helps.

combine all of the above and let sit overnight. Strain to drink. Just something a bit different than plain ol' Water.< /p>

I drink herbal teas, caffeine free with splenda. You can either drink them hot or iced. I like Decaf chai tea too. They lots of flavor and they help with my head hunger by keeping my tastebuds entertained.

Have you tried any of the flavored waters? There are lots of options.. my favorites are Aquafina Flavorsplash and the Vitamin Waters with no added sugar. If you like iced tea, now that it's getting warmer, sun tea is a great option.

Good luck,

Kortni

Yep, me too. Plus, and I was so bummed to find this out a couple weeks ago, but the powdered Splenda (packets or bulk) and most sugar free products contain maltodextrin...which can spike blood sugars in diabetics and cause an insulin response (T2)...which can start the cravings again.

I immediately went and looked at my Crystal Lite packets and, yep, 'maltodextrin'. Fortunately, I only drank them as an occasional treat, but did notice on the days I had them that I struggled with the cravings more. I just thought it was the 'sweet' taste and it was all in my head. Nope.

I know exactly what you mean. I love Water but sometimes I just need a little flavor. I found the following list of beverages that help:

1. Skim Milk, Only 80 calories per 8oz plus it has 8grams of Protein

2. sugar free Hawaiian Punch, Both Grape and fruit Punch are tasty. I get them at Dollar tree, 8 packets for $1

3. sugar free Koolaid has many flavors, I enjoy tropical punch. I found it at the grocery store for $3.59 but it has 8 packets and each packet makes a quart.

Elfie, If you don't have issues with Stevia, look for the new Crystal Lite "Pure". They're a few more calories per serving (15 I think), but don't use aspertame or sucralose. And Walmart (and probably Target) have generic versions of the Pure too.

Another thought is the "Pure Lemon" and "Pure Lime" and "Pure Orange" flavorings. I don't think they have any sweetner in them at all.

Good luck on finding something you can use.

Does anyone use 4c brand Water flavor packets. They are made with splenda. Taste really good!! But I really question the splenda. I drunk about 4or 5 packets per day. Is that too much. Could it explain a plateau?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
