Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to have my surgery on May 9th, my BMI is 32, but I have 2 comorbidities. Anyone have this surgery with the same thing ?? I am wondering how the weight loss went..how much did you lose ?? How quickly/slowly ?? what was the total weight loss ?? What was your experience like ? I am scared, and looking for support and answers. TIA !!

hey! i was 33 bmi with comorbidities. I weighed 216 and had my surgery on 10/25/10. Lost most of it before Christmas and now I weigh 186. Just got another fill today. I haven't been watching what I eat or anything and it's all my fault, but I have gained 5 lbs in the past month. Dedicate yourself when you start and never cheat. A little cheat leads to BIG cheats.

I started wit a BMI of 32. My surgery date was 8/16/10. I was 175 lbs and am now hovering between 140-144. It has been a slow process for me and my Dr is fine with my progress. He tells me it will be much slower than the normal 2lb a week weight loss. I 100% agree with Kim about cheating!! DO NOT START! Once you realize that you can eat junk just fine, all the old bad habits come back. I havent lost much lately and its all my fault. I need to get off the junk and back on the exercise.

I just got another fill 2 days ago and I'm hoping I will reach my sweet spot soon!

I will tell you that I do not regret it in the least! It was painful at first and my port is very noticible but I would do it again in a heartbeat! I have gone from a sz 14 or 16 to a sz 6 or 8 and I feel great!!!!! It was definitely worth every penny.

GOOD LUCK!

Shelly

I was banded with a bmi of 33 and have PCOS

I went into surgery (october 2009) at 210lbs ( not my highest) i believe ( 95kg) and by February 2010 I was 170 lbs. Sadly I had band erosion blah blah blah anyways basically went 5 months without the band got a new band July 2010 and by Nov 2010 I was 150 lbs. I have basically stayed there since and am hoping to lose my last 10 lbs to get to my goal of 140 lbs.

Basically if I ate right and worked out then I lost weight, if I slacked then so did my weight loss. You can do this just don't get discouraged if you dont lose a lot fast as you dont have a lot to lose to begin with.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
