CALLING ALL HUGE WEIGHT LOSS PEOPLE

Recommended Posts

I was banded on March 1, 2011 and have lost 71 lbs. My last weight in was easter sunday morning. I only weigh in 1 time a week because I found myself obsessing on a daily basis about how much weight I was losing.

My diet is around 600 calories a day.

1. For Breakfast I either have a Pure Protein Bar, or a boild egg. (Egg = 71 Calories, Pure Protein Bar = 180 Calories)

2. lunch I have a high Protein meat like chicken, Fish, Shrimp, or Boca Burger. (Calories are around 150)

3. dinner I have a 4oz portion of high protein meat and about 2/3 cup of frozen vegetables that I heat up in the microwave. (Calories are around 250)

4. I drink 0 calorie drinks (Water, sugar free kool aid, sugar free Hawaiian punch)

5. If I am short of 60 grams protein a day I will either have a Boost drink or Skim Milk (Boost = 180 Calories, Skim Milk = 80 Calories)

I exercise everyday unless the weather is crappy. I go for a 2 miles walk around the neighborhood at a comfortable pace.

I was banded 10/4/2010. I've lost 101 lbs. as of today. I work out everyday and do lots of walking. I average about 800 calories per day. I set small realistic goals for myself with my workouts by increasing the workout by a few minutes at a time per week. The awesome thing about this whole thing is that I enjoy working out. Wow, I never ever, ever thought that I would say something like that!!!!! lol I'm really careful with intake of high calorie foods, but, do enjoy a piece of cake or a candy bar at least once a month. I usually will do this at the end of each month, so I count the days down and work harder a few days before. The wierd thing is that I don't crave sweets like I used to. I hope this continues. I am hooked on sugar free popcicles, especially the banana flavored ones. Have one or two late in the afternoon. The only thing that I miss is a beer after working out in the yard :-(

My weight loss has been so quick because I was scheduled for surgery in September but the surgery was cancelled just a few days before my date. I was already on my 2nd week of the Protein diet and the next surgery date was 2 weeks away from that day, so, I was on the darn Protein diet for 4 weeks. Man was I sick of liquid Proteins. YUCK!!!!!

I lost about 130 and it took a year. I chalk my success up to cutting carbs and lots of exercise. I eat tons of Soup and fish and wouldn't say that my portions are all that small. I haven't had a bowl of Pasta or a slice of pizza or a bagel in over a year. For some reason I decided that those were lifelong things to avoid, whereas I do drink alcohol, eat dessert and some french fries every now and again. The point being that you have to make rules that you can live with for yourself and stick with them. I think that lifting weights has been another key to my success. I weigh almost 150 pounds but wear a size 6. It just helps you pack it all in better. I never spent any time feeling sorry for myself and I went to the gym even when I was really dragging and exhausted. Still, I wouldn't say that I suffered all that much, and now it's a blur. My kids don't even remember that I was fat!

I lost 134lbs in 16 months and had to take off 9 months to have a baby. A huge factor in my weightloss was exercising. I go 4/5 days a week and am there for at least a hour at a time. I also watch what I eat, but dont deny myself to occasional treat. I do still go out to eat and have drinks with friends. Breakfast is generally either a breakfast bar or a Protein shake. lunch is a smart ones and I always have a couple Snacks throughout the day. dinner is whatever I am cooking for my family.

You can see before and after pics of me here:

I have already hit my goal and have reevaluated to where I want to be.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
