tnt21705 8 Posted April 26, 2011 Has anyone ever tried these noodles or heard of them? My friend was telling me today about them. They have no calories or carbs and they are not made of any flour. I wonder if they will work for lapband people?
ElfiePoo 109 Posted April 26, 2011 Yes, but they're actually called Shirataki noodles. You can find them in the grocery store in the same section as the tofu. They aren't completely carb or calorie free, but they are very low. Per 4 oz: Calories 20, Carbs 3 I know a lot of my low carb friends love them, but they smell and taste 'fishy' to me. Don't know why since they're made of tofu and I think tofu smells very fresh and clean, but it's enough to put me off. .
lauragshsu 6 Posted April 27, 2011 I've used them before and they're great. They do have a "fishy" smell, but extra rinsing before using has always helped. Cover in a delicious sauce and you almost wouldn't notice (they tend to have almost a "crunch", not completely mushy like regular noodles). The first time I used them, my husband told me how wonderful dinner was- never even noticed!
