Rachel412 116 Posted April 25, 2011 If your surgery practice doesn't have a nutritionist, then yes, you should get one.
funygurl 0 Posted April 26, 2011 I'm 23 and have the same issues with overeating and binging and with your surgery date so close I would definitely recommend getting in to see a nutritionist/ dietitian to help at least prepare you for after surgery. I assume the eating is emotional reasons so hopefully you're seeing someone or at least making progress with that. I wont have my surgery until July but it still makes me nervous because I'm afraid if I don't have my binging under complete control that I will mess up my surgeons beautiful job =0 The surgery wont fix everything, it's there as a tool for weight loss so the whole point of seeing someone is to help prepare you for after surgery so that you continue making healthy choices and you keep on having successes =D Good Luck with everything!!! ktckk08 0 Posted April 26, 2011 I would check the hospital and see if they offer a course in what to expect before and after surgery. A nutrionist is a perfect person to help you all the way.
losinandlovin 2 Posted April 26, 2011 My surgeons office and insurance required it. Even now when I go see the surgeon, once every 6 months we chat to see where I am at and how I am doing. I recommend it. She/he needs to give you some guidlines as to what you need to stay healthy. Not enough food and nutrition have long tern effects that can be avoided. It does not have to be a long term every month kind of thing but some one you can touch base with you periodically. It will be worth it to you to see one before and a few months after. Best of luck. We are here to help you through the questions!
