Just wanted to update you all!

THanks for you support!!!

Sorry to hear that, but glad they took care of the problem. Glad to hear your dr gave you options; just focus on feeling better for now! Hang in there :)

Wow what an ordeal! I can't even imagine losing my band. It's so new to me but it feels like a security blanket or something. Glad you have the option to get bypass if necessary. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you can maintain or continue to lose without it!

Oh wow! I hope you heal up quick!! Did your doc discuss the sleeve at all? I only like that option over bypass because it doesn;t remove intestines, which can lead to malnutrition issues. I know of one person lookign t the sleeve but I guess insurance isn't always on board with it yet?

Glad to hear you are ok and there are options down the road. Most important is your health right now so take care of yourself!

Did they say where the infection came from? Was it band related?

Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery from this ordeal!

Kelly

They finally let me go home.. About 5pm EST. I was told by my Dr. I will never had the band back b/c of the infection! Not sure what exactly happened, but he said one of the stitches came undone! Could have been from me vomiting and Sliming! But when he went in to see what he could do.. he found the infection and just took it out! I

I have a drain that sucks out all the infection and bloody Water and what not! I will have this for 2 weeks. I go for a follow up with my surgeon on the 5th.

I am happy that they fixed the problem.. that infection could have lead to some serious infections...and possible death!

Well,

Thank you all for you support through everything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
