I will share what works for me.

First of all I give myself a window in calories between 800 - 1200 Daily. THATS IT !

I try to eat foods high in Protein, and not to high in calories.

Drink at least 1 good Protein shake, say for lunch. To get your Protein in.

I mean just because your banded, doesn't mean you don't have to diet...

If you been doing it your way, and it's not working??? Guess What? It's time for a change.

That is what I am giving you, and telling you.

Start up a journal.. DATE,,,, TIME ,,,, food ,,,, AMOUNT,,, CALORIES ,,, PROTEIN,,, HOW DO YOU FEEL?

Get a notebook and turn it sideways, so your titles are where the holes are. Then enter all the information under each catagory, by looking it up.

Book or Internet. Internet go to Calorie King, and enter your food. Book Dr. Phil has a excellent one out (AND I AM NOT A FAN !)

THE ULTIMATE WEIGHT SOLLUTION FOOD GUIDE.

Go to Amazon.com you can pick it up fairly cheap.

Good Luck, let me know how it works for you. I do this every day !

Shirley.

You're not a failure! You're not a failure! You're not a failure! Keep telling yourself that!

This is a journey. We aren't going to change a lifetime of bad eating habits (which generally are a result of our lifestyle which we've developed as a result of our eating habits) overnight. You've lost 40 lbs! Yeah!!!

Don't look for your band to physically restrict how much you can eat. It just doesn't work that way for many people. Look for cessation of hunger and until you figure out what that is...eat a reasonable meal and then step away from the plate. Count calories, count carbs, follow weight watcher's guidelines...do something that helps you determine what 'reasonable' is. My surgeon was happy with my 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon for Breakfast (I do low carb/high fat) and then 3-4 oz of Protein and a cup of vegies for lunch and dinner. When my food was gone, I was done.

Even now, without my band (long story), I try to keep the same habits because they keep me accountable. It's just too easy to keep eating 'because we can'.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
