TerriF 9 Posted April 23, 2011 I am 3 days post op and haven't had a bm yet. Was told if in 3 days and it hasn't happened to take 1 oz. Milk of Magnesia which I did and still nothing. But I also don't have the urge yet so does this seem normal? I have been walking and have been getting in all my fluids. Other than being sore on my tummy I have been doing great. Not a very good back sleeper so have been up around 3:00 am each morning. Ended up getting the rest of my sleep sitting in a chair. Anyone else having this problem? mattie7632 24 Posted April 23, 2011 Took me about a week and then not regularly for a few more weeks. Once you start eating more things will return to normal

Rachel412 116 Posted April 23, 2011 Yes totally normal. I took a gulp of Maalox and it helped, or try taking some Fiber if you're worried, but you're not constipated- you just don't have anything that needs to get out.
thsisme 14 Posted April 23, 2011 Mattie and Rachael, have got it right at day 3 you are probably still on liquids and you were 8-24 hours pre op without any food. so your body probably has nothing to put out as of yet. This will gradually happen as you re-introduce foods into your daily diet. As some before have mentioned, you might want to mix some type of fiber, i.e. benefiber or something similar into your Protein Drinks to start getting some fiber into your body. Everybody is different, just pay attention to it as you start to introduce foods back in and remember some folks do get constipated, so drink, walk, and be prepared to take fiber or stool softners or laxatives as your bariatric team suggests. Take care and I wish you all the success that we all here on this pathway deserve!
TerriF 9 Posted April 23, 2011 Ok I am so glad, this experience has been no fuss so far. Even the liquids haven't been bad but am looking forward to full liquids tomorrow.
