Anesthesia really isn't as scary as people think. My fiance just had an endoscopy this morning and was worried about the anesthesia because he never had it before and he said it wasn't nearly as bad as he expected. Most people don't even remember falling asleep because it happens so quickly. The last thing I remember was being in the operating room and talking to the anesthesiologist about a cruise I just took in February. The next thing I know, I'm in recovery an hour later.

Don't be scared! Good luck!

I completely understand! I just had surgery this morning! and I am already home! I was so scared and nervous before the surgery this morning, I even started crying! But everything went so smooth that they even sent me home early! You will do great, it is normal to be nervous, but it will be over and done before you know it! I can tell you from my own expierience just today! Good Luck! You will do great!

I'm getting mines at 6:30 AM Tuesday and I'm anxious. I've been ok with the liquid diet and I strayed a couple of times........but I immediately did at least 750 calories worth of cardio and lifted weights to lessen the effect. The hardest part for me will be not being able to lift weights for a month. However with this band, the effect of my working out should be greater with less food intake.....I wish everyone getting their bands in the final days of April the best of luck April Band Buddies....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
