So I just bought this stuff called Carb Solutions Protein Shake Mix, chocolate flavor. And WOW it is NASTY. What kind of Protein mixers are y'all using to get your protein in? I really like Instant Breakfast, but there just isn't enough protein in that. Also, I had my surgery this past Thursday on 4/14/2011. How long did it take before any of you could start working out? I was instructed to not lift more than 5 lbs...but I have been feeling a lot better since surgery. I am just ready to start doing some light workouts for starters. I usually ride my bike. I'm just wondering how many weeks it took anyone to start working out regularly?

Muscle Milk, Isopure, and Labrada are all good. Buy the pre-mixed ones, much better tasting IMO. I was cleared to exercise 6 weeks after surgery.

You can pick up MUSCLE MILK LIGHT on EBAY for $5.99 a jug. 2 scoops/8oz water. Is all you need.

Just type in MUSCLE MILK and the light will come up also. Then start looking for the price.

and you will find her. She usually carries strawberry MILKSHAKE, and chocolate Peanut Butter BLEND.

Both are very good, and she does combine shipping. (YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS PRICE)

I used unflavored that I got an GNC.. Mixed it with diet green tea and a splash of OJ... I got really tired of Choc. vanilla and strawberry...this mixture sounds odd, but it kinda has a tropical taste...BamaMom

I used to drink Atkins low carb but then discovered the EAS chocolate powder at Sam's Club. One scoop in a cup of unsweetened almond milk is 4 carbs, 160 calories and 25gm Protein. Less calories and quite a bit more Protein than Atkins so I switched over. I have to admit that I tossed a whole case of Muscle Milk (ready made) because I thought it was so awful and so did everyone I tried to give it to.

.

I use the one from Walmart, I can't remember the name of it but if you go to their website and search whey Protein it comes up. It's the best tasting one I've had so far!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
