kellyanne 1 Posted April 22, 2011 Hi Everyone! I am new here and very inspired by all your posts! However, I am very scared as I am sure most of you were. I am especially afraid I am going to be able to feel the band at any given time after surgery. I understand I will feel it when food goes down but if I am just sitting and watching tv, working or driving, I don't want to be aware of it. Can any post op patients fill me in about this? I asked during my pre op session at the surgeon and the nurse and doctor differed in what they said. Thanks so much!
jlwoodruff82 1 Posted April 22, 2011 Hi Kellyanne! It is going to be fine! My surgery was 3/18/11. My surgery was 8.30am and I was walking around the halls at the hospital by 11am. I felt some restriction/fullness the first week, but have never "felt" the band, actually the opposite right now-where I sometimes wonder if the thing is even in there, had my first fill Monday, still not feeling any differently yet, and am trying to be patient. The first few days there was quite a bit of swelling in my abdomin, and the biggest incision-where the port is was tender when going from sitting to standing, but I can't feel the port anymore either. Hope this helps ease your mind a little, realx it will be great and totally worth it! Best wishes for a wonderful experience and speedy recovery tomorrow!! buggy22_us 0 Posted April 22, 2011 You have nothing to worry about sweety! The only pain you will feel is from the incisions! I had mine done this last January and I walked out of the hospital that same day. Bloating is expected and tenderness as well. You may feel some restrictions but you won't feel it sitting, standing, walking or moving. You will be slow as you are recovering from major surgery... but just keep in mind that then end result is COMPLETELY worth it! Just relax and Breath!!!! Shannon Hi Everyone! newbandlady 3 Posted April 22, 2011 I don't feel my band. If I eat until I'm too full I get a little pain where I imagine it is but that's the only time. I actually forget it's there now. And right after surgery I was just sore all over from the incisions not the band itself. I can lay on my stomach on a pillow and on either side with no pain or problems. Good luck tomorrow!
