a turtle?

I am mostly okay, but a little sad, to find myself a slow loser. I am almost 3 months out (the 27th) and have lost 16 lbs. Seven of that in the first month (week actually) on liquids. I need another fill (currently at 1.3ccs), but still.......I am insulin resistant and do take Actos, but I avoid bread (although it goes down easy) and never eat sweets. It is discouraging to see others losing 30-40 lbs in 3 months. I am realistic in the fact that I lose slowly compared to others, I always have. But I feel like I am spinning the wheels and getting nowhere. It is a little disheartning and discouraging. I had a banana for Breakfast with a Protein Drink, a beef and broccoli Lean Cuisine for lunch, a handful of almonds for a snack. I had 3 glasses of wine instead of dinner, dont crucify me ..........out with friends, I still have a great fun life and that was my choice. What can I tweak? I hate the Actos, gained 10 lbs the first month on it. Is that a change I can make? I just started exercising, weights and walking or bike for 30 min. Do I just need another fill? I am losing hope here.

Regular exercise will make a difference to you.

I'm developing my own personal theory here and I have no real basis on which to support it but I believe the well known advice to work out in your fat burning zone (65% or so of your max heart rate) - long, slow and steady is not that effective for lots of people.

I believe you get better results and MORE fat loss if you work out hard with interval style training, and do weights. My DH has been walking 5km at lunchtimes, and I have to run to keep up with him. He's gotten fitter, and now cant get his pulse above 115 bpm with full out striding (he'd have to run if he went any faster). So it's definitely benefited him - but he's lost no weight at all after 6 months of it. It never did much for me either when I walked a lot.

But gym workouts at higher intesnity and weights - that works BRILLIANTLY.

Lianna, I have no idea what I can tell you to help you to jump start your weightloss. I wish I could, really I do, but I'm trying to work it out myself.

I know one thing though. I personally cannot stress enought the importance of tracking your NSVs, your non-scale victories. The scale really only gives one dimention of your journey. It's like trying to describe a beautiful sunset, but you only have one color in your paint box.

Please, if you haven't started it now, start your NSV list. If you really are a Turtle, you will need that NSV list to keep you motivated. Mine is the only thing that reminds me where I'm going, but more importatly, where I've been.

okay..........NSV's which are not as great as seeing the scales move. waist is 3 inches smaller, pants too big, bra too loose, shoess arent tight.... I want lbs lost dammit,, lol!!!!!!!

had to edit to add... i drink nothing but Water or tea, have a zero sweet tooth, i DEFINITLY need a fill... is my metabolism whacked or am I messing up on something I am not seeing? Is it really about the fill level? Even on a regular diet prebanding I did this good, I would think it was my impatience but........HELLO!!!!!!!......16 lbs is slow.

I'm IR too & also a turtle. Like Vines, I wish I had the answer for you! NSVs are important though. The scales will move in their own time. When the scales move for me, they usually move big, & then they just sit there again for months at a time! & yes, fills are important! I didn't have any significant weight loss until after my third fill & I am going in this week for another fill. Hang in there! It WILL happen! You can PM me if you want.

just wanted to let you know i know what you are feeling--I was a VERY slow loser.....one lb a week the whole time. i was very frustrated and bummed really....BUT, I can say, now that i am a little over a year out, it doesn't matter that it was slow--just that it happened! i am hovering around goal, feel great, and so happy with my band. Also it took 4 fills for me to get to where i needed to be...so chin up, 16 lbs in 12 weeks is still within normal weight loss for the band-youre doing great!!

I" have to agree with Jachut! (Carideo) is the best way to lose weight with light weight's more reps;

walking swimming biking are all good! easy on your knee's and back.

You are just starting out in the game of weight loss there will be good day's and bad, it all take's time.

you have to change up your routines and try a little more exercise. Exercise Is the key in weight loss.

Your Band is a Important tool in your weight loss, now you just have to learn to help it!

Good luck John

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
