You know what I keep forgetting, and what I think is gonna be one of the hardest things for me? Not drinking anything while I eat, and then not for another 30 min afterwords. I am such a sothern girl in my NEED for some Ice tea while im having a meal....even just now, after telling myself to have my last few sips before I started dinner, I caught myself with a half empty glass sitting next to me.....its a mindless habbit!! Does anyone else have this problem? How do you make youself remember not to drink?

In the beginning i always drank when i ate... I'm a good southern NC gal and I got to have my tea too!!!! LOL But now with my last fill i can not drink anything when i eat or it will come up... I think once you get to the right restriction you will absolutely remember not to drink!

I used to always drink soda with lunch and dinner so once I gave that up it was pretty easily. Every do often I do find myself grabbing my water bottle when I go eat though

The best way not to do it not to have a drink at the table at all...if it isn't there you can't drink it ;)

If you go out to eat just order Water. It is free and nobody questions that you didn't order anything or drink anything. Plus you have it invade you have a need to wash something down.

When I set the table for dinner I don't give myself a glass. It was hard not to drink with meals at first but I am so determined to succeed that I've never really had trouble remembering not to.

I completly agree with Princess...once you hit the right restriction you wont be able to drink and eat at the same time and you wont WANT to. I was really worried about that too for the longest time but I actually had no problem with it once I got banded. I almost always just order a glass of Water and nothing else when I eat out and I just dont bring a drink to the table when I eat at home. Once in a while I will eat something that makes me really thirsty and it is harder not to drink but most of the time I dont have a problem, that part really surprised me because it was one of the main things I stressed about before surgery. Iv been banded for 8 months! The easiest way for you would be just not to bring anything to drink at the table with you and only order water or no drink at dinner when going out.

O.K. I do things different, and it works. As long as I stay between 800 -1200 calories a day I am fine.

I measure all my foods, and count my calories.

When I eat, my surgeon tells me I'm just to sensitive.

My port would be extremely painful if I ate 4oz without drinking. So I have to drink.

Mushies I can handle,

but real food is way to painful. So I eat some, and drink some to wash it down until I finish my meal.

I don't get hungry in between, so I'm still doing the calorie thing successfully.

But I can't drink cold stuff, my throat closes up.

I have run into a few people like myself, and just like me, we thought we were all alone. But not so.

Thanks everyone for the super advice! It gets easier every day...........right? Today is 9 days post op for me, and I think im doing pretty good. I really dont have much restriction, I can eat and drink pretty much anything (of course im still in mushy phase) but im just gonna keep up the hard work, and I know once I over come these little "mental" hurdles, things will be just fine

If that happens to me somewhere down the road. I would be delighted...

This was pretty hard for me too. My old way of eating, chugging soda and eating quickly! Now that I can't do either I just kinda trained myself to not even put a glass at my place setting, if someone else does it I take it and put it in the kitchen. I also try and remember to look at the time I finish eating so that I know when I can drink again. At first I would end up drinking while eating because I didn't realize I was even doing it but now I've gotten much better!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
