I too feel hesitant to go to the support group because when it starts its all about numbers. Who lost what and how much. I understand how you are feeling YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

If thats how your support group makes you feel find another one or start your own. I met some great people on these boards and we started our own group. You really need the in-person support as well as on-line support

Oh my! I wasn't able to read the forums for a few days. Your posts to this thread are so thoughtful and thought provoking. Thank you everyone! Great points all. Thanks for the hugs and well wishes.

Claudia, I would love to buddy up. I'm not real consistent about being on the forum, but when I'm here, I'll be here for you!

Fran, your point-by-point insight into the positives of losing slowly .. wow! Love it!

Dave, I questioned myself about exactly what you pointed out thinking maybe I was reading it wrong. I wish I was, but there was no denying the attitude. It was that obvious. Kudos to you for being in tune to somebody else and their feelings. This is a crazy emotional ride .. sorry your positive turned into something not so positive. HUGE congrats on your weight loss!

Thank you to all of you who are in the Slow Motion Boat with me and offered your empathy! Maybe we need a new group for us? I think any forward, stalled or even backward motion is valuable as long as we can remain encouraged and encouraging. It's so easy to get discouraged and feel left behind. I try to keep believing and stay optimistic.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
