8 days out

Recommended Posts

I am on my 8th day and I am feeling worse this week then from last week. I am trying to eat thicker liquids but I have so much gas in my stomach. I take gas X as much as I can and barely get any relief. I am wondering what have I done and will this ever get better. It's like I have a stuck burp in my throat. I do all the tricks the dr's office has told me to do. Very very little relief. Has anyone had a ruff couple of weeks and then have it turn around for them? Gosh I hope so.

It does! I felt the same way & milked my pain meds those first two weeks with Gas X & a heating pad & walked, walked, & walked some more. I made sure I drank my 64 oz. of liquid a day. I began to be more like myself about day 10.

I hope this helps & God Bless!

Ahh I hope this is the case for me. I would hate to think it will be like this forever. I was starting to doubt my decision for the lapband.

Don't doubt yourself. It wasn't easy to get the surgery, but you did it. Now, trust in yourself & let the band do it's job.

Also, if you have too much pain call you doctor. Run it by them & see if they think you should be concern.

I didn't want to bother anyone, so I just stuck it out. Come to think about it, I should have bothered them. If I bought a car that wasn't running right, I would called the dealership. I am so much better than any car I have driven, so I should have talked to the nurse at the office at least.

Good news is I was alright! I pray you will be too!

I'm sorry, you must feel miserable :( I'm thinking maybe you've still got a good amount of swelling and that's what's causing the feeling of a burp that is "stock". Have you tried heating pads on your back or chest?

I agree, too, about calling your doctor if you're in a lot of pain. I hope you wake up tomorrow and begin to feel loads better!

Thanks! I am not in any pain just the feeling of a stuck burp. I do think that I have alot of swelling left. I did see the dr for a check up on tuesday and he said small sips no straws no cold liquids. everything hot warm or room temp. I just need to give it time. My stomach must still be sensative.

I'm about 5 weeks out from surgery and I had the same discomfort you do at that stage. Your stomach just needs time to heal and the gas takes a little while to completely metabolize. t does get better, I promise!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
