Pain when eating and how do I know when I'm full??

Recommended Posts

I'm so confused:( I got a .2 cc fill last Tuesday. I did great until Sunday and something got partially stuck- It happened after taking my medications so I'm assuming it was one of my pills. Anyway I threw up everything I ate and drink for about 4 hours and then suddenly everything was fine and I was able to eat again.

For the past 2 days I've been fine with no vomiting but everything I eat hurts when it goes down. What gives? I can't even tell when I'm full anymore because everything hurts.

Should I go back to liquids for a few days and then slowly advance to solids and see if that helps? Is the pain because I'm too tight or just because I'm swollen or not chewing enough?

I eat a little, have pain, stop eating, then bam 2 hours later my stomach's growling and I'm starving again. But If I eat then I have pain everytime I swallow my food so I just stop. Now I'm just discouraged:(

After you had your fill did you follow the following diet:

2-3 days liquid diet

2-3 days blended diet

2-3 days soft diet

slowly try 1 new food at a time, dont drink 30 minutes before and 60 minutes after you eat.

Take very small bites about the size of chicken in chicken noodle Soup and chew it very good. 1 oz of food should take 10 minutes to eat.

Also did you talk to your doctor about the pain?

After my fill I did liquids for 24 hours then mushies for the next 24 and then solids. That's how my doc does things. I haven't called him about the pain yet because, and yes I know this is stupid, I'm afraid he'll want to unfill me and he'll take out too much. He already thinks I don't need to lose much more weight as it is.

I wonder if the pill that got stuck began to dissolve where it was stuck, and it irritated your stomach? I'd say go back to liquids AND call your doctor- I know you don't want an un-fill but you also don't want to regret any permanent damage you could have avoided, you know?

Called my doc today and he thinks my pill did get stuck on Sunday and it irritated my band. He put me on liquids for the next few days and then I get to slowly add solids back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
