Thank you all so much....your support has been very touching...I do feel much better this week...I spoke with my Dr. And he assured me that he and I control this band and I don't ever have to be so tight to wear I am throwing up or can't still enjoy the food I enjoy in moderation...I am down 24 lbs in 2 weeks! Just making smart decisions and stopping eating when I feel comfortable....I think I am going to be just fine. Thank you all again..bless you

i did my crying and break down prior to surgery. I dont know if any one else was like this but food was my comfort friend i could go to and not get criticized or cut down. i depended on food to make me feel better. So in a sense when we are that dependent on it we grieve for what we are limited to.

Shock is the keep. but please keep in mind every doctors rules and everyone's body is different. my doctor said i could have starch but as everyone has said i was to have it in moderation. So i do enjoy some Pasta or a part of a biscuit from time to time.

We just learn new ways to enjoy our food. And sometimes we learn that we really dont need that afterall. Good luck on your new journey and look up for a positive view.

:D

Sorry you are having a hard time. I think what your feeling is perfectly normal. You are giving up a good friend- food. As far as bread goes, I couldn't eat it while I was loosing- got stuck every time. However, since I reached goal I keep my band very loose and can now ieat bread and pasta- as long as I chew well enough. So I am saying, it's not forever. Once you have restriction and are loosing weight I hope you feel differently. Best wishes!

Hello,

I know that you wrote this about 1 1/2 year ago, but I would like to ask you a question. My doctor is recommending that I have the Lap Band procedure. I've read that you can only eat 4 - 6 ounces each meal, which isn't very much. When a person gets to their goal weight, the band is emptied? Can you eat more than a few ounces?

Thank you

If you really want to eat bread, get those thin, round, whole grain Buns and toast them.

I do not feel deprived at all. I can pretty much eat whatever I want. Some foods I will have to chew more carefully than others and you will figure out your own "be careful" foods. You don't HAVE to eat healthy or how and what is recommended, but you will lose more if you do. Many of us won't lose at all if we continue to eat junk even when portion controlled. Good Luck, it will work out fine!

It is scary when you think about it, but it will be okay. I am a bread fanatic too. As long as it's warm I can eat it. I don't eat it all the time though. I eat TONS of popcorn. It's all about moderation and chewing slowly and taking small bites

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
