My name is Elandis and I am a 31 yr old single mom of a 3 year old and 19 month old. I was banded 3/29 at a weight of 334 and when i went for my 1 week visit i was at 319. I am currently on the soft stage but Ive gained 3 pounds back. I really dont know why. Im wondering is it because my primary took me off of the HCTZ or what? I go to the gym every single day and work out 30-45 minutes. I eat yougurt for Breakfast, v8 about 9, then for lunch i eat mash potatoes or a Soup, then drink a crystal lite about 1:30. Then once I get home I will eat a small bowl of chicken salad and maybe 2 or 3 crackers OR a small salad a pice of lean ham or chicken. Then my snack is a sugar free popsicle. What am I doing wrong. I want to loose this weight so bad but it seems that Im going backwards. Has anybody else had a problem?

Be sure you are getting enough calories. This is vey common. We are trying to be so careful and that is awesome, but if you are not getting your recommened calories you will stop losing. This is very frustrating. Breakfast should consist of Protein and a carb. Mashed potatoes have been an easy food for me, just be careful with it. Carbs make you crave more carbs. Make sure that protein is your main dish for each meal. Be careful with yogurts. There are some out there that are very high in sugar count. I found Carb Master at Kroger. Lots of good protein, taste great and low calories. If yogurt is all you are having for breakfast add granola or nuts to it. cheese is easy as it can melt on in your mouth some and is a great soft food and protein. Can you do eggs? I do scrambled eggs and it is a "go to " for me as well. If you are not calculating your calories, start now. At least for a few weeks to see that you getting enough calories. I can almost bet you are not. Also you are woeking out every day. That will add weight. So you must put enough calories in if you are working out. I hope you took your measurements. When you are not losing pounds, you could be losing inches. I HIGHLY recommend taking measurements once a month. I only lost 2 pounds one month and I was so discouraged, when I took my measurements I had lost over 11 inches off of my body. Suddenly I was not discouraged anymore. To tone cost pounds so make sure you are getting enought food in. Make sure it is healthy foods and it will take you far. I wish you the best of luck and loojk forward to hearing of your success.

I was banded 3/25 and have only lost 7 pounds, however I only have a total of 40 to lose. I am feeling very discouraged because I have not experienced the feeling of fullness or decreased appetite. I have to eat every 4 hours or I have intense hunger pains. I am eating about 15-1600 calories per day, and 60-80 grams of Protein. I am still feeling obsessed with food. I will have my first fill tomorrow--my doctor does not fill the band until one month after surgery. My friends who have had the banding are puzzled by my lack of fullness but swear I will feel it after my fill tomorrow. My friend also says I am eating too much and will stretch out the pouch. Do I even have a pouch when I haven't been filled yet? I am also having a lot of problems with upper abdominal intense gas pains. Am taking gasX which helps. The pain is at the worst when 4 hours have passed without eating. I am feeling alone and frustrated and like I wasted a huge amount of money to have this done. I also heard I should be on liquids day before and day after a fill. True? I am confused so please help.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
