Looking for Surgeon in WA

Recommended Posts

There are a number if options in Washington State. I am getting mine done at the University of WA Bariaqtric Surgery center. I picked UW because I am retired and they take Medicare, and also because a friend got banded there (by the same surgeon assigned to me) and has very positive results. They have four surgeons; I have been assigned to Dr. Khandelwal. My first meeting with him is this coming Monday (4/25).

There is a group in Everett that does banding, too, but can't think of the nake right now. I think Swedish does it. There are undoubtedly some other places across the state.

Google lap-band surgery in WA state and you will get a bunch of hits.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Ellen

I was banded at Swedish Hospital in Seattle by Dr. Ross McMahon. He's the head of their Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. Highly recommend him. Excellent surgeon, and very complete pre- and post-op services from his very qualified staff. They take a variety of insurance plans, including Tricare Prime, which was why I chose that center.

The one in Everett that Ellen mentions is probably Northwest Weightloss Surgeons. They are an independent company, and I don't know if they accept insurance. (They didn't take mine, and they wanted more than $15K to do the surgery.) They have a good seminar, though, if you want information.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
