hopetolose 192 Posted April 18, 2011 I was banded on Thursday the 14th, and I am still not hungry at all. I have to make myself eat my Protein shakes. Is this normal? I am having either alot of gas or restriction still. Sometimes it feels like I just need to burb, but it also feels like i wouldnt be able to fit anything down there even if I wanted to eat something. I remember hearing the doctor say that I wouldnt be hungry for the first three weeks, but I didnt think It would be like no hunger what so ever. I wonder if it is restriction or gas?!? My goal today is to hit 60 grams of Protein, which I am hoping will help with my laziness the last four days. Good thing is that I have lost 10 lbs since the surgery day. (i know, i wasnt suppose to weight myself) Bad girl. I have been getting in about two Protein Shakes per day for about 30 grams the last few days, which I know is not good. Collister 4 Posted April 18, 2011 I had my surgery the same day that you did. I can understand about not being hungry..I have been hungry but that started yesterday. I think I am getting tired of the liquids! My nurse today said I can already start eating yogurts and puddings. I forgot to ask if that should be sugar free. What do you think? I didn't know we could have Protein Shakes, I think that is why you are not feeling any hunger, which is good! I know with me, just knowing that there is something that was just put around my stomach makes me not want to eat just yet so it might be a consious thing for you to not be hungry yet. What kind of Protein shakes are you taking?
Lucylu1 0 Posted April 18, 2011 I was banded on the same day as you and I'm not hungry at all either! The gas is terrible and Im forcing myself to eat 1/2 a can of Soup and 1/2 of a Protein shake.......hopefully this is normal and just a part of the healing process! Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!
Rachel412 116 Posted April 18, 2011 I was banded 2 days before you, and today is the first time I've been hungry- 1 week out from surgery. So Ill say just enjoy it while you can, make sure you get down your Water and your Protein, and if you're not getting them down, call your surgeon- you don't want to end up back in the hospital for IVs! Collister- you didn't know you could have Protein shakes? Seems to me like they're the only thing that remains constant from doctor to doctor- everyone says to make sure to get enough protein
Onederland2come 1 Posted April 18, 2011 I was banded on the 31st of March. I started getting hungry about 4 days ago. Most of the first few week I was still bloated with gas and was still sore. But here I am almost 3 weeks post op and can't stop being hungry. I can't wait to get my fill so that the hungry fillings will go away. My doc told me to never eat more than a cup at a time... This is something I have to get used to. My goal now is not to regain any weight I lost until my first fill. I was banded on Thursday the 14th, and I am still not hungry at all. I have to make myself eat my Protein shakes. Is this normal? I am having either alot of gas or restriction still. healthyroad69 0 Posted April 18, 2011 I was banded on the 13th and as of right now I am only able to get 1/2 of my Protein in and Water. I do not feel hunger pains as of yet either. I guess that's a good thing. Smile! I too had to force myself to drink the shakes. But i'm noticing as the days go on I feel better and better. Hang in there. Collister 4 Posted April 19, 2011 Yes my doctor had told me to make sure I get enough Protein but he said to stick to a strict diet of Clear Liquids for the first week. And after that I can start my Protein Shakes. I have been drinking a lot of chicken broth and miso Soup for my protein for now. I can't wait for some real food haha

That's actually the goal of the band to not have any hunger! For now it's swollen like you have fill.. you will probably start to get hungrier in a few weeks before it's time to have fill
