burningfeet 0 Posted April 20, 2011 I have my first surgeon visit on 4/22/11. Have been trying loose as much weight as possible to shortened the time frame. Does any one the time frame after this visit. will I be required to loose more with even though I have lose about 10lbs in the last six weeks, since my last visit at the bariatric department. I really want to be banded before July. I have my first appt with the surgeon, psych doc, nutritionest on 4/27 ... I was told that the surgeon askes you to loose some weight prior to the banding so that the liver will be reduced in size. I have also been told that the weight that you are loosing now counts towards that but then I have been told that it doesn't. I am very anxious to see what is actually the real story. Will you post after your 4/22 visit so all of us other Kaiser Richmond banders will know?
burningfeet 0 Posted June 1, 2011 Did u get your. Band Went to Richmond -- the doctor was RUDE ! After exam, she told me that my weight was evenly distributed and that they like to perform procedure on individuals in their mid 40's and I was much older than that so I was not a good canidate ! I am so mad ! I meet all the criteria EXCEPT her personal opinion ! So now I will wait until I have tons of medical issues and friggin die slow --- I can't get rid of the weight, the weight is causing medical issues and KAISER won't do a thing about it ! I was electing to have the sleeve -- How is your experience?
singand_dance 8 Posted June 3, 2011 I'm surprised to hear she was rude... Dr Fisher I would believe... I went to orientation at Richmond 2 years ago, assigned to Dr Fisher. He said I needed to lose 85 lbs before he'd schedule surgery. (Yes, he was serious). I worked really hard for months and lost 50 lbs but it still wasn't good enough for him. I finally decided to have my care transfered to South San Francisco. While I did have to start over as far as going to another orientation and psych appt again, I've got a Dr I love (Dr Alami is awesome) and I have my sleeve surgery scheduled. If you're having that much trouble with Richmond, do not hesitate to get a second opinion. There's another thread on here with Richmond patients, its hundreds of pages long but jump right in, everyone's frendly.
