I have my first appt with the surgeon, psych doc, nutritionest on 4/27 ... I was told that the surgeon askes you to loose some weight prior to the banding so that the liver will be reduced in size. I have also been told that the weight that you are loosing now counts towards that but then I have been told that it doesn't. I am very anxious to see what is actually the real story. Will you post after your 4/22 visit so all of us other Kaiser Richmond banders will know?

Did u get your. Band

Went to Richmond -- the doctor was RUDE ! After exam, she told me that my weight was evenly distributed and that they like to perform procedure on individuals in their mid 40's and I was much older than that so I was not a good canidate ! I am so mad ! I meet all the criteria EXCEPT her personal opinion ! So now I will wait until I have tons of medical issues and friggin die slow --- I can't get rid of the weight, the weight is causing medical issues and KAISER won't do a thing about it ! I was electing to have the sleeve --

How is your experience?

I'm surprised to hear she was rude... Dr Fisher I would believe...

I went to orientation at Richmond 2 years ago, assigned to Dr Fisher. He said I needed to lose 85 lbs before he'd schedule surgery. (Yes, he was serious). I worked really hard for months and lost 50 lbs but it still wasn't good enough for him. I finally decided to have my care transfered to South San Francisco. While I did have to start over as far as going to another orientation and psych appt again, I've got a Dr I love (Dr Alami is awesome) and I have my sleeve surgery scheduled. If you're having that much trouble with Richmond, do not hesitate to get a second opinion.

There's another thread on here with Richmond patients, its hundreds of pages long but jump right in, everyone's frendly.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
