I was banded on march 9th. I crushed mine for about 2 weeks, and got tired of it so I just started taking them normally, and I have not had a problem. My 1st fill will be on Thursday so I will have to let you know if that changes anything! Hope not, I really hate crushing meds lol

My doc says anything that is mult-vitamin size or larger must be crushed. I take Synthroid and it is small and does not need to be crushed.

My Dr. showed me a "pill" about the size of a round tylenol pill, and said crush everything else, lol Well Metformin is way bigger, but so far I am OK. :o Hope it stays that way!! lol

I agree with the rest - take them normally.

My surgeon said I could swallow pills no problem, just don't swallow a whole bunch at once.

you'll know if it's too big!! it won't go down.

But most pills are fine... I have no issues taking tylenol or my prescriptions... I can't swallow a multi-Vitamin so I keep using the children's chewables.< /p>

Did they explain how that could happen? The band is outside the stomach.

Large pills can get stuck in the stoma. That hurts, had it happen. I take pills as large as a Multi-Vitamin with no problem.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
