suggestions for tuna, chicken, and egg salads

Recommended Posts

Most will think this is gross but instead of mayo I use cottage cheese instead in my tuna. Mayo bothers my stomach and I don't love tuna so I have to mix it in something. pineapple cottage cheese and MMmmm dessert. Don't knock it till ya try it.

I to love cottage cheese! I even eat it with speghetti o's and it reminds me of lasagna. lol I'll have to try it with tuna. I also eat cottage cheese on baked lays chips :)

I like mine on a toasted sandwich thin or 100 cal multi-grain toasted english muffin. bread seems to work a little better for me if I toast it. However, I just had a fill and it has made a big difference in how things go down. Haven't tried much bread yet. I also do the lettuce wrap thing. Bibb is the best to use, but I don't see it in the stores here very often.

I eat potatos maybe once a week. I usually just do protien and veg. but sometimes I really want a potato. It is good for you until you load it with extras.

Good Luck to you!

Once on solids I would'nt recommend chicken/egg/ham salad as it is a slider; and often made with mayo (high in fat). I make chicken sandwhiches every day for lunch using a Romaine lettuce leaf, spread low fat laughing cow cheese on the spine, chicken breast strips, mustard. Roll it up and enjoy. For 3 oz of chicken I usually need 3 lettuce leaves. During mushies and post fill I mixed shredded chicken with low fat laughing cow cheese instead of mayo. The other plus is it can be microwaved.

I'm not a fan of chicken salad.. but I eat tuna and egg salad by themselves. Another thing I've just recently read and tried.. is taking a couple wedges of Laughin Cow cheese and mixing with a packet of tuna. I eat this mixture by itself or try to mix it with a little lettuce.. it's very yummy!

thanks for this idea. Love laughing cow. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
