Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Okay guys, I finally have got restriction! I am at 2.2cc. The first 3 days I was good and tight and full with just about 1/2 cup. The 4th day I wasn't very restricted. The 5th and 6th day after (today is the 6th day) I am very restricted in the morning and can only eat a few bites of an egg before I'm hiccuping and spitting up some of it. Then there is much less restriction later in the day. Any suggestions as to how to keep the restriction going as strong later in the day?

I think you'll find your band is tight when it's tight and loosens when it does, there's not a lot you can do about it.

In the morning, try to drink some hot tea or coffee before you attempt to eat Breakfast. Many people report this helps to "prime" the band for Breakfast. You really want to start your day with some good Protein. If you find that you still can't eat anything substantial, I would recommend drinking a Protein shake.

Your restriction will loosen up over the course of the day, and as Jachut mentioned... there isn't much you can do about that. Try bulking up on your Water. That will help curb your appetite. Also choose some healthy Snacks so you don't feel "deprived".

I hope that helps. Best of luck to you.<O:p</O:p

The effect of the band loosening throughout the day may be a result of gravity redistributing the Fluid in our bodies. There's not much you can do about it, but don't make the problem worse by overdoing it in the evening. Some think that a larger evening meal has the effect of irritating your system overnight, creating greater restriction in the morning. This is a vicious cycle, so try to minimize your evening intake and sleep on an empty pouch.

I find that if I eat a larger meal at night, I am tighter in the morning. I have heard a lot of people say they make their big meal lunch. I have done this and it actually helps me to eat more at breakfast. I just try to even out the meals and not eat as much at night.

Thanks guys, that makes sense because I have been eating more....in the evenings....because I can : )

Before my fill I was having a Protein Shake for breakfast. It is what I usually do have and I actually like them. But I was trying eggs and other Proteins just to see and I end up hiccuping and spitting up when I do eat that. So I'm going to try shakes for BF and meat Protein for lunch.

I was loving the way I felt right after the fill on Monday evening and Tuesday and Wednesday because I could not eat more than 1/2 cup of anything even if I wanted to.

I have another question.

My Dr. lets us eat right after being filled. No days of liquid and then mushies and then regular protein.

Why do doctors say to have liquids the first day or so after a fill?

Why does mine say that I can eat whatever I can right off the bat?

My doctors say to go to fluids and then mushies after a fill primarily, I think, so that we are not suddenly surprised by restriction and have a bad episode. Some people's stomachs swell in reaction to a fill, so lots of doctors suggest taking it slow with solid food.< /p>

i can't eat eggs....ever. they are really rubbery and many bandsters can't eat them. i don't eat Breakfast per say....when i get up i just start drinking my Water, and usually don't eat for a few hours, as the Water keeps me full--i find once i start eating i don't quit:) i think its okay to wait to eat for awhile. i find if i do that, its ends up being around lunch time, and i can eat normally then. its true, i usually end up only eating 2 meals and a snack, but i am about at goal so i won't fuss with what's working:)P because my band is more open at night, i prefer to have saved calories for then--good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
