ABS - 6 PACK???

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys - just wondered if its possible to work out abs post op say 6 months after surgery. Reason Im asking is that back in the day (I know. lol) I used to train doing Crunches, leg raises, seated machine crunches etc etc and was wondering wether intense Abdominal workout would play havoc either on the band itself or the port. Id also like to know of peoples experiences who have managed to get a 6 pack or the slightest visible abdominal muscles showing throuh and what that meant to you. Thanks Guys and Gals.:D

Thanks

Nigel.

Go for it. Been working mine out since 3 months or so post-op. You may get some tenderness around the port for a little while but it goes away.

The degree of definition you can achieve I think depends greatly on where you're starting from and how much "damage" has been done. You can only get your skin to shrink so much and you can only get other tissues to alter so much... But it is possible to see great results if you work hard!

Good luck! Brad

Use big, compound exercises and lift heavy. Deadlifts, military presses, squats, bench presses, rows and chin ups should always be the main focus of your muscle building workout programs.Lift weights for no more than three to four days per week. Doing so is not only unnecessary but can quickly lead to over-training, especially if you are doing other physical activities such as cardio or playing recreational sports on a regular basis. To keep your body in a muscle building state, be sure to change your workouts frequently. If you have been lifting for several years, this may need to be done every two weeks because you will adapt more rapidly to the same stimulus. Without a good training partner your results will always be less than what they could be. It is imperative that you try to find someone to push you and to compete against if you really want to take your muscle building efforts to the next level. It states that to make progress you need to constantly increase the amount of weight you lift. Follow this rule and you will get bigger and stronger. Ignore it and you will get nowhere. If you are benching 225 right now, you better be benching 315 by this time next year if you want to build muscle.

It'll be fine for you now, but be aware - getting a six pack is all about dropping yoru body fat low enough for the muscles we all have to show - my BMI is 19, I'm fit and have worked out regularly for five years and I dont have a six pack, although i have a flat hard stomach! But what WILL happen is that your port will stick out, lol! I agree, big compound exercises that use your entire body and lots of cardio to drop fat.

The band will stick out? That is interesting. So my question to you is that no matter how long the healing process the port will always be noticable or be able to be felt because I am 2 1/2 weeks out of post op and I can feel the band very well and it is hard as a rock and disturbs me when picking up things and doing excersice so is this always going to be an issue then or does it just become natural and part of the body or kind of go more into the body? I know odd question but I have been curious.

Thanks, BTW you look amazing! Good job.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
