JUST WHEN I WAS DOING SO GOOD!!!

So today I went to the Dr's for an Unfill! I was waiting patiently for this appointment! I have not eaten in a few days (since Monday) and having a really difficult time getting liquids down! I finally budged and figure something wasn't right and scheduled the appointment for today!

I told the Dr. that on Saturday I was grillin chicken was moist, not over cooked, and tasted sooo good. I took a few bites and was in the bathroom spitting (sliming) all over! A good 4-5 mins, I thought I was going to be sick. Sunday came, I made burgers on the grill...I do really well with ground beef! Not Sunday! I couldn't eat it! So, Monday came couldn't even eat my yougart! Gurgling everything I swallow, even my own spit (how gross)!

So Dr. told me he would take my full 2 cc's out of my band and we see what happens. Told me if I can't get anything down they were admitting me ( I am really dehydrated )!!!! So I sat in the office for over an hour drinking away 6 oz of water! Still gurgling and now in tears!!! I don't want to be admitted! I am fine let me go home! So finally, after the hour and them checkin in on me every so many minutes they made a deal with me and Gave me bad advice! LOL.

Here is his deal!

Go home- drink 6-8 oz of COKE! If I have something stuck (chicken) then it will dissolve and pass through or I will Vomit and it will come up that way! I also have to drink 24-32 oz of liquids by the end of the night (Gatorade, Water, or juice and this includes my Coke, UNLESS I throw it up)~! DEAL DEAL DEAL!!!!

I was sittin there in the office tears runnin, feelin like a fool! I will do whatever you say so I can go home!

So he is going to call me tomorrow to see how I am doing! If I am still gurgling he wants me to go in for a SCOPE. They give me good meds so I don't feel a thing and I guess go in down my throat with a tube to see whats going on. Hopin the GURGLIN will go away!!!!

I forgot how sweet soda is! My teeth feel like they are going to fall out! LOL.

Well good new is when I weighed in there i am down to 189.2 an all time LOW!!!!! Not healthy how I lost it this week; but low!

I walked 4 times this week so far! Feelin good... just really want to EAT and DRINK!!!

TTFN! Ta Ta for now!

~Mandy

I know this is probably not going to sit well with some people, but I drink carbonation EVERY time I get stuck. I cannot deal with pain at all, so I either want it to pass or come up. Therefore, I drink carbonation (be it coke or otherwise). I told my doctor, and since he has never had a problem with carbonation he doesnt have a problem drinking a little to get it up. I'm fairly newly banded (3 months) so I am still learning how to eat. I figure once I learn how to eat properly, I wont get stuck and I can cut out the soda all together.

I may be newly banded but this is really good to know! I do not deal with pain so if I can get it up with soda then Hallelujah!

Just be careful. I know some doctors go ape shit at the mention of soda. I understand both sides, but honestly I sip enough to throw up or make it pass so I can't be doing much damage.

I would only drink enough (if it happens) to pass or throw up anyway! But it is good to know in case of a dire emergency. I wouldn't try it unless I was really stuck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
