I had my surgery on 3/28 and I am still experiencing quite a lot of pain!!! Primarily on my left side. I think it's my port???? It seems to hurt all the time, not only after I eat! I try to take Motrin, and use a heating pad when I am at home, but nothing really helps. I am eating soft foods and drinking shakes, but I wonder if I should go back to shakes. The area isn't swollen or red, well it's a little puffy, but nothing huge!! I have gone back to work this week and I have to do lots of bending (I am a wound care nurse and I have to dress patients leg wounds and bend over beds etc). I am just tired of being hungry all the time (weight loss slowing down) and on top of it being in PAIN!!!

PLEASE someone tell me this hell is going to end soon! I am going to get my first fill May 12th do you think I should wait till I see the NP?

Thanks,

Joleen

I had pain in my port for a long time after surgery. I still experience pain almost 11 months out. About the motrin, I am not sure if your doctor is the same but mine has a big rule about no NSAIDS at all, ever.

Thanks for the reply! My doctor said Motrin was ok, why did your doctor say no on NSAID's

Because they can cause erosion. They can cause ulcers too.

Wow, that's good to know! I'm not taking anymore Motrin and I will ask them about it when I go!

My doc said no NSAIDS either..I think it even says no NSAIDS on the Lap Band website. You may want to check. Stomach erosion would not be good.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
