Head Hunger Vs True Hunger

Recommended Posts

Hey all

I dont post here all the time, but from time to time I lurk...SO HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

I wanted to ask you guys here...how do you guys tell the difference between head hunger and true hunger. I ask this due to the fact that I fight this all time. I deal with ...It is noon...time to eat...but when i eat, I cant get it down. So I waste my money on food. I do think that my issues are deeper as I am still doing things that I am not supposed to do. I still eat bread, drink soda and not excercise so I have not lost alot of weight, But I stil want to know how to tell the difference.

What do you mean "you can't get it down"? Are you too tight to eat proper foods? We need more info.

I base my eating on a bit of a schedule, ie: try to eat yogurt for Breakfast, some Protein for lunch and dinner time. If I eat 70 grm protein a day if I have untimed "hunger" then I judge it to be head hunger and drink 16 oz Water. That usually works for me.

The other day at work I was starving in the afternoon. I kept thinking about going and getting a bag of Cookies out of the vending machine. This went on for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Finally I decided, heck, I haven't bought anything out of the vending machine since my surgery 9 months ago and gave myself the go ahead to buy the Cookies. Then I thought "oh, i have a babybell cheese and an yogurt in the fridge" and I realized neither one of them sounded even the least bit apealing to me. That's when I realized I wasn't really hungry at all (and I thought I was starving) !!?? I'm happy to say I didn't buy the cookies or eat the cheese or yogurt! It is really difficult to distinguish between the two sometimes.

Good Luck!

Head hunger is a bad old and hard habit to break. Trying chewing sugarledd gum, drink Water or go on a walk. If I have tried those things and Im still hungry than I will eat something small.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
