Well.....I picked an doctor I wanted to have perfrom my surgery....I was set up for my EGD appt at the end of this month. I called the office on Monday to check and the office staff told me that my doctor had been dropped as an " in-network provider"...Ughhh :( They offered me to see his partner in th eoffice and I agreed.....My EGD was canceled on Monday....and has yet to be RESCHEDULED....

This is so FUSTRATING......I had my first Appt on 4/4/11...and nothing has gone forward since then..... :( So I have now decided to look for another office to get me on my way to a healthy lifestyle!

Wish me luck everyone! I am still educating myself on the lab band while I start my process over...all comments are welcome

That sucks for the delay, but continue to do band research. I ended up having to do a 6 month monitored diet and I stayed on this board the whole time and I learned so much on my wait. When I read a lot of peoples posts I feel that they go into this blind, not having researched enpugh

Look for a Center of Excellence in Bariatrics, in your area. Just a good tip.

Congrats on starting your journey but I'm sorry about the hiccups. While I was in the process of getting all my doctor appt's finished my original surgeon left the practice. I had to come in and meet the new surgeon and had to do my research on her. It was frustrating but I knew that my original surgeon would never leave her practice to someone who wasn't capable, it was her life! It all turned out well but it was frustrating at the time. Good luck with everything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
