When do you STOP eating?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering at what point do you stop eating? I mean is it when you can feel a slightly 'fullness' after 3-4 bites, or when you are really full or anywhere in between? Do you always try to eat your whole half/full cup of food?

I really need your advice

Thanks x

Everyone is different. Every body is different. I have found that there are "triggers" that my body gives me when I am full but my brain doesn't realize I am full yet. My nose may start to run a little. I hiccup one time. Weird things, but it is just my body talking to me. As you continue down your road you will learn to listen to your body. And if you ever ignore it don't worry it will let you know lol.

When my food is gone. I portion out everything I eat ahead of time; easier that way :)

yeah that helps as well we have smaller plates in the house and use cocktail forks (shrimp forks) and baby spoons, which helps too

Like reverie, I portion my food and stop eating when it is gone. Honestly my hunger is gone after a few bites, but I know that won't hold me, nor is that enough calories.

Hi guys!

Thanks for replying. It was so much the portion size that bothered me as what ever I cook I use a quarter cup, half cup or full cup measure to make my portions (from Amazon), for example I would measure half/quarter a cup of rice/potatoes or what ever with half/quarter cup of whatever I made to go with it so I generally don't eat more than 1 full cup. My issue is that either I just get really full all of a sudden or I don't get full at all and walk around like a hungry bear haha! My band has a mind of its own and I am not losing even 2lb a week as some days I can barely eat and other days I can't stop!

I was banded in Dec 2008 and I lost a great amount of weight but since last summer (June or July-ish 2010 - UK time), I have gained ALOT and trying to recommit to my journey but tbh this is sooooo much HARDER this time round and I have 7.7ml in 10ml band!!

Thanks though guys, you have helped truly xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
