Ahhhh I've forgotten how good eating can be :)

Recommended Posts

Sounds strange huh?

Well I've been over filled for the past 6 weeks and had to resort to eating Soup, soup and nothing but soup. Every time I would try a solid I'd slime and vomit. It go to a point where I got so depressed I'd dream of real food. Granted I was loosing a good amount of weight but thats not the reason I got the band to ONLY eat soup or liquids.

Needless to say I got a whopping 2cc's removed today. My Doc said my previous restriction level was perfect, I said sure if ALL I wanted was SOUP!!!

He was willing to unfill me did it under Fluro so he knew how much to take out, I felt immediate relief. It was like a weight was lifted off my chest. I really didnt realize that for 6 weeks I was living with this tightness in my chest and constand slimage in the back of my

throat.

I can eat now and not be scared. I am concerned about weight loss slowing down or stopping so I just need to be more mindfull of what actually goes in my mouth now. No more high calorie Soups just to meet my daily calorie intake.

I feel good now :)

Yay :) glad to hear it; maybe when you start to get fills again have him go VERY slow and small since your band only holds 4cc.

Oh yes, I know exactly how you felt! I have had to have fill removed 3x. 2x it was the whole fill for a month. One time it was just 1/2 cc. Right now, I am in maintenace, and have nothing in my band,a s I had a slip. (which you should be glad you didn't get).

Just keep up with what you are doing, you should be fine. Karen

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
