giogirl 5 Posted April 13, 2011 Wondering if anyone has any input. I was banded 4 weeks ago and I get my first fill next week 2 days before my vacation....is that ok? Im a little nervous I might have issues like Ill be too tight and be hours from home with no one to fix me till I get back....but on the flip side Ive stalled with my weight loss and def want to get started with losing again. Will I be able to feel if I am too tight before I leave....do you feel that pretty quickly? When I had my surgery they already filled my band with 6cc so this will be in addition to that. Help...what should I do?
Sha'sJourney 1 Posted April 13, 2011 You probably won't notice much of a difference on your 1st fill.. it usually takes most people 3 fills to feel the "restriction" from the band. It took me 4 fills to feel restriction. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I'm sure you will be fine. You can always ask your doctor for a "not so aggressive fill" the first time since you are going away on vacation but like I said, most people don't notice much of a difference on the 1st fill. Good luck and have a great vacation!
newbandlady 3 Posted April 13, 2011 I got a .5cc fill a couple of weeks ago. It was my first fill since surgery. (I already had 5cc's in it from surgery though). I didn't notice any difference in restriction. I will tell you my surgeon said 2 days liquid diet, then mushies for a day or two. Maybe that might carry into your vacation a little but I'll tell you honestly I could only stomach the liquid again for a day. I jumped right back into eating solids and had no problems. Skipped the mushies. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!
HeatherinCA 10 Posted April 13, 2011 It shouldn't be a problem.. they aren't going to fill you so you can't eat... 6ccs at surgery really? Hmm... Just remember you'll be on liquids and mushies for a few days.. 1 stateofzen reacted to this
Melissannde 41 Posted April 13, 2011 Better call your doc's office. Mine doesn't like to give fills closer than a week before travel.
vlp1968 83 Posted April 13, 2011 Especially since you already have 6 cc I would hold off until after your vacation. You don't want to be out of town and find your too tight. Also, it might be hard to stick to liquids then mushies while your on vacation. At the very least, let your doctor know about your plans if you decide to go in. 1 Melissannde reacted to this
ElizabethNYC 1 Posted April 13, 2011 I actually want to thank you for asking this. My first fill is April 27th and I'm going on vacation May 5th. I'm kind of nervous about this but I still want to go. I'm going to tell my surgeon that I'm going on vacation a week afterward so maybe she wont fill as much. DRB1 0 Posted April 13, 2011 I had a fill 2 days before I left for vacation. It was my 3rd so I was a little nervous. I talked to my doctor and we decided to do a smaller fill to make sure I didnt' have any complications. They also suggested that I stay on liquids the day of my flight since flying can aggrevate the situation. I ended up having no problems while I was gone. I didn't stick to liquids the day we left either. I lost 1.5# while on vacation and still enjoyed myself! Have a great trip!
