I had some mashed potatoes today which dr said was ok and my shoulder pain is so severe I actually had watery eyes from the pain. When I breath In it stings, nothing reliefs the pain, gas-x, tried baby gas drops, tums, I also tried a Mexican remedy my mother I'n law did on me and nothing worked. I'm 5 days post op. It's like heartburn and air at the same time help. Any suggestions

I had some severe Left shoulder pain about day 4 post op-the Nurse practitioner at our doc's office told me to lay on the side that was hurting, as strange as it sounds it really helped. She said that it was trapped gas from during the surgery and it makes the gas go midline and then out of your body. Best of luck hope it helps.

I second Heather's comment. Heating pad or a rice bag (old tube sock with 2-4 cups of uncooked rice - tie the open end of the sock then microwave for 2 minutes - can be reheated around 100-200 times before you need to replace the rice) and lots of walking, stretching, and moving.

Mine hurt constantly and those rice bags helped immensely. Especially before bed and in bed. It provides moist heat for about an hour or so. Make sure to wrap it in a towel or t-shirt to prevent burns.
