Hello everyone...I am 5 days post op and I seriously have zero energy. I push myself to get up, walk, do some house work, but all I really want to do is sleep. I was lucky with the pain aspect as I didn't have much, only needed pain med the first 2 days and it was Tylenol with codeine. Is this feeling ever going to leave me? I feel light headed and shaky most days which is why I started with something beyond liquid...eating very mashed chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, but that is helping marginaly. I get full very quickly so I sure hope I am taking in enough nourishment. I absolutely hate my nut as she has as much personality as a wet mop and is not very informative to begin with. They had to repair a hiatal hernia and that has been a blessing considering the excessive amount of acid I had prior to surgery....knock on wood I have had zero since the surgery.

I want to go to the gym but I have no idea what I can and shouldn't be doing at this point, that coupled with no energy. I feel like sleeping the day away...I dont give in to this, but damn I sure feel like a zombie. :(

Hmmm, I wasn't tired like that. As a matter of fact 3 days after my surgery I was taking care of my 1.5yr old and 3yr old by myself all day. They are pretty high strung and although I was still in some pain I was able to manage. Are you getting your Protein shakes in? Vitamins? Lots of Water? I don't think working out sounds right yet especially since you're so tired. Walking of course is ok but if you're that tired I'm surprised you want to do any exercise.

ps. also had a hiatal hernia repaired.

I am drinking Protein shakes, and drinking tons of Water....but zero Vitamins. I cannot take them because they all come with Calcium and that causes me to get kidney stones. I have never felt this tired. As I said, I dont give into it...I refuse to lay around and do nothing, but holy lord the tired feeling is awful....Not to mention, I am a single mother of a 9 year old...It is only her and I in the house, so I cannot just lay in bed and sleep LOL....I have been caring for her since the day I came home from the hospital to the best of my ability. Luckily she was in school. This weekend was her opening for softball and I did get her there, stay there, and bring her home, but I was in bed with her at 8 pm and sound asleep within minutes.

I hope you guys are feeling better and starting to get energy. I'm still eating so little 6 weeks post op and I never feel run down like you guys. I actually have tons of energy. I start my day with a 50g Protein Shake. I use Isopure. I take the Centrum chewable multis and two Calcium tablets. It's a veggie and chicken or some lean protien for my two meals and no Snacks. Sometimes I eat the ready made tuna packs if I'm too lazy to make anything. Or I'll get a grilled chicken salad.< /p>

I know what your talking about! I am 7 days post op tomorrow and today was the first day that I had enough energy to do much of ne thing. I have been very worn out and feel as though I have no energy. On a good note I am starting to feel better and went shopping and out for a pedicure today, followed by a nap :) lol I'm hoping my doc advances my diet tomorrow so I can get more calories in and start exercising a little. Hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
