:faint: Repost from OH--

I wasn't being rude or trying to rain on her parade--just wanted her to come check out this site. Here is her post:

"I have been letting everyone know that I am a bit nervous about my upcoming surgery and I appreciate everyones advice and words of encouragement. However, today someone sent me the following email through this site that I found offensive.

"Stacy I don't mean to scare you but I strongly suggest NOT having surgery in MX; there have been several women on lapbandtalk.com with band erosions and all had their surgery with mx doctors; 1 or 2 of the erosions were Dr. Ortiz's patients. Erosion is a serious complication requiring removal of the band.

Good luck"

angry.gif First of all, erosion happens. It even happens to patients in the US. My doctor is a leading world expert in Lap Band. He has trained MANY American doctors and was taught himself by the inventor of the Band Dr. Belachew. When a Doctor performs over 3000 procedures, there are bound to be some erosions.

I guess I am just aggrivated because I have enough going through my head right now, like not gaining any more weight and I feel that an email trying to scare me about my doctor was very rude.

Sorry, I am just venting...."

Stacy

p.s. For anyone doubting Dr. Ortizs expertise...order his book. www.drarielortiz.com He will also be appearing on Dateline NBC soon doing a piece on the Lap Band.

Some of the unfortate ones are very vocal, but every post or response may NOT pertain to them........somehow they make it seem so,,,,"my erosion, my crisis, horror horror",but that is not the representaive of the actual banded world..most bandsters have great experiences in Mexico with their surgeon. Do some research..

Just repeating myself that posting communications from other sites is not considered good board etiquette, melati. We get that you were just trying to be helpful; copying it all here isn't really helpful, though.

I just went into a bitch fest with someone over there not long ago. I swear the lady was psychotic. Some people over there just don't want to hear anything but cotton candy and butterflys. You didn't do anything wrong.

It really is a blanket rule because of copyright issues. Most sites have copyright notices saying that copying of any text on their sites elsewhere without permission is illegal, so it's really NEVER a good idea to do it. And when when it comes to personal communications even if it doesn't violate any copyright rules it's just plain not nice.

Paraphrasing--saying what happened without direct quoting--is fine.

I don't know the context but that doesn't seem rude or offensive to me at all. Nobody loves unsolicited advice, but she's very polite and doesn't say anything mean or insulting. It seems like she's heard some bad things and is concerned, not like she's trying to frighten you out of some malicious intent. If somebody heard something negative about my surgeon, I wouldn't mind if they told me. In fact, I'd appreciate it, so I can ask the surgeon about it! I'd want to look into the issue and decide for myself if it's a concern for me. I like to think we have each other's back around here.

I agree, the wording isn't "rude" however, I do think there's a major difference between addressing a question or making a public post here on the boards, and sending an unsolicited email to someone. I can see why this person was upset, as they might have felt singled out or something. I don't want to project my thoughts or feelings on them, so I can't say if there were uncertain about their decision, or something else. We never know how people might take something we say or do, and of course that doesn't mean we should change or adjust everything we say or do for others, but, it's still not the same thing to write a private message to someone, versus posting on the boards...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
